What Is Creative Writing? How to develop it?
Creative writing is any writing skill that goes beyond the boundaries of normal professional, journalistic, academic, or technical forms of literature. It is typically identified as an art of character development. Creative writing is the art of making things up. Creative writing is to be considered any writing that is original and self-expressive.
Types of creative writing include:
- Poetry
- Plays
- Movie and television scripts
- Novels and short stories
- Songs
- Speeches
- Blogging
- Personal essays
For example, If you are writing poetry or song you have a
limitation of space. Within that, you have to express the goodness of the
subject. Here the writer has to be more creative to express his/her ability to
impress the audience.
However creative writing can be an enjoyable and rewarding one. But it
does not always come easy. Sometimes you aren’t sure how to get started, or and
you will be in the mood for writer block. For this, you have to read a lot or make
many types of research about the topic you are going to write about. Creative writing depends
on your own time, your own culture, and most importantly, your own style. Don’t imitate
anybody and it must be exclusive of yours. Creative writing is creating your
own world with your own writing.
Before writing you have to know your audience. You must really
consider the question, who is your audience? If you are not sure about it make
one up and start writing from there.
Writing is a skill, and like any skill, you have to practice it
constantly if you want to be any good at it. Don’t just keep dumping words into
your computer and expect to grow. You need to use it correctly by reaching the audience. When more people read your article, the more you will grow, and
the more opportunities you will get to write. Just like any other field writing
and publishing in social networking is a key to success.
